ZeOmega’s Information and Security Compliance Officer Is Appointed EHNAC Commissioner

Shaun Newton Joins Prominent Healthcare Leaders on Accreditation Body Influencing National- and State-Level Best Practices and Standards

PLANO, Texas – November 10, 2021 ZeOmega®—the healthcare industry’s leading population health management organization—announced its Information Security and Compliance Officer, Shaun Newton, was appointed a seat on the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC) Board of Commissioners through 2024. EHNAC is a non-profit standards development organization and accrediting body for organizations that electronically exchange healthcare data. The EHNAC Commission is comprised of an executive director, a chief operating officer and 11 healthcare industry leaders including stakeholders and consumer representatives from private and public-sector organizations.

Newton’s appointment as EHNAC Commissioner is important to ZeOmega’s clients because it allows ZeOmega to not only closely monitor the regulatory evolution of the healthcare industry but also actively engage in it. Newton was chosen as a commissioner due to ZeOmega’s proven track record of accreditation and regulatory compliance excellence. ZeOmega has always taken an aggressive, innovative, yet thoughtful approach to these areas of business, dedicating immense time, effort, finances, and resources to ensuring its solutions and operations meet the highest standards.

“I’m extremely honored and humbled by this appointment,” says Newton. “The EHNAC Commission seat gives ZeOmega vision and access into the future direction of the healthcare industry at the highest level. It is a vantage point most PHM companies do not have that is crucially important. It means we can be more proactive as an organization. ZeOmega is now even better positioned to adjust our operations and solutions to meet the requirements of tomorrow. Our clients can expect to avoid adoption and implementation stress when future laws and regulations are enacted.”

“The guidance of our Commissioners is invaluable to EHNAC, especially in a time when our industry has a critical need to achieve quality and trust in healthcare information exchange,” said Lee Barrett, CEO and Executive Director, EHNAC. “We’re honored to have Shaun Newton join our Commission, and look forward to his thought-leadership, vision and insight as we collectively work towards achieving our mission of ensuring the implementation of interoperability in the healthcare ecosystem and achieving the highest standards of patient data privacy, security and integrity.”

At ZeOmega, Newton works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the company’s products and operations meet the highest industry standards. His areas of responsibility include regulatory compliance, information security, privacy, risk management, corporate quality improvement, and public sector and international engagement.
